About

Eileen Meyer

Eileen Meyer is an Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated documentary editor with over a decade of experience shaping non-fiction narratives. She has crafted acclaimed feature films, limited series and shorts for Netflix, HBO, Showtime, PBS, MTV, National Geographic, and IFC, among others. She is a new member of American Cinema Editors (ACE) and a frequent speaker on the evolving art of the edit.

Eileen’s editorial practice is defined by a deep inquiry into the emotional core of complex narratives. She specializes in stories that interrogate identity and culture, the nuances of psychology, and the intersections of history, activism, and the arts. Her editing work has been recognized by Sundance, Cinema Eye Honors, DOC NYC, and the International Documentary Association (IDA).

Beyond the edit, Eileen brings a comprehensive industry perspective to her work. Her extensive background in festival programming and curation for organizations such as NewFest, Full Frame, and Indie Memphis informs her understanding of how stories resonate with global audiences. She frequently serves on juries for major documentary awards and is a passionate advocate for the health and diversity of the filmmaking community.

A winner of the prestigious Karen Schmeer Editing Fellowship and a Contributing Editor at the Sundance Edit Labs, Eileen is dedicated to the tradition of mentorship. She approaches each project as both a technical craft and a collaborative journey, working with emerging and established editorial teams to develop and structure films at any stage of the process. Whether acting as a lead editor, story consultant, or mentor to the next generation of assistants, she is committed to fostering voices that push the boundaries of non-fiction storytelling.

Often working from Oakland, Los Angeles, Durham or New York, she is willing and excited to travel for projects, festivals, or residencies.
